A TRANSITIONAL TREND BLAZING TRAILS FOR SPRING FASHION
Fresh off the press… It’s SPRING! Cue, awkward happy dance! Side note, I’ve seriously considered joining a hip hop class of some sort in hopes that one day, I’ll look half as good as I feel when I’m bustin’ a move. But until then, it’s time to break out the shorts, sundresses, and let those ice cream trucks lose. We kind of live in a neighborhood now so, I have this faint feeling one will jingle by, I’ll get a rainbow snow cone and my childlike heart will do a little dance of its’ own. Speaking of shorts, I found the best pair of cut off denim high rise shorts from Agolde! They hug your waist, not your thighs and don’t give you that short shorts look, even for us long-legged lassies! I’ve struggled with my clothes showing a little too much leg for years, these denim shorts are a win!

THE BLAZER EDITION
Now the real reason we’re here. The Boyfriend Blazer! The tailored piece that makes every look, look effortlessly chic. There are a few things you can wear with both cutoff shorts and trousers. No wonder this trend that’s always in style.
Lulus has a great selection of blazers too. I couldn’t include them in the roundups below!
My favorites have patterns like tweed, plaid, houndstooth, and herringbone. The ones that look like they could have been your grandpas or boyfriends —pending your man is super stylish and old school— and magically has this feminine twist that fits you just a touch oversized. That’s the look I love! Since my grandpa needs his jackets, and my husband doesn’t have any…I’ve turned the fashion gurus of the world who knew there were ladies like me out there, boyfriend blazerless. I’ve made a killer collection of favorites below!
I go kinda crazy over textures. Especially come spring and summer, linen gives me goosebumps! I love the rawness of it. These are my favorite finds where you can see the difference in the weave of the fabric. Mostly a collection of linen, velvet, and corduroy pieces.
After all, it is spring —feels good to even type!— and pastels put an extra pep in my step. Brights are of course, in for the season so I couldn’t help but dedicate a section too them. I’ve been particularly drawn to the light pinks and yellows.
Hope this collection helps you blaze your own trail of Spring trends.

Who else is ready to jump out of their seat, into an airplane and jet off someplace nice and warm!? I’m standing on my chair with both hands in the air!I feel like I can’t complain about being a bit chilly here in Nashville when Chicago is -12° and buried in snow and ice. BUT that is one of the reasons we moved here, so I should be thankful it’s a mere 26° here in “the south.” I’m sending prayers for safety and warmth to everyone up north!
If you’re one of the lucky ladies who happened to plan a vacation during the cold front… high five girl! Let’s pack those bags and hit the freakin’ road. Gus and I leave for Scottsdale and Palm Springs on Friday for a little belated anniversary adventure. Our first vacay together since our honeymoon! I’ve been dreaming of chic resort wear and woven everythingsince we bought our tickets and am finally organized enough to share it with y’all!
My vibe for this round is vintage chic!
WOVEN WONDERS - Hats, visors, bags, and shoes! Make all my accesories woven and bamboo please :) Most of my hats and bags are from Hat Attack. I’m also obsessed with everything from Ulla Johnson right now. Their shoes, bags, dresses… basically everything is so unique and calling name. Saving up a pair of her sandals right now! This little net bag I’m holding is from Kayu , I think you’ll really love all their bags and a few are on sale too!
THE SUNDRESS - I just found this brand called Posse and love everything they design. It’s an Australian label reconstructing vintage pieces and they are stunning! I ordered this white dress I’m packing from there but florals, ruffles, and polka dots are all a good idea. I linked a few options below! There’s even a brand called Sundress that makes classy and colorful pieces too!
HAIR SCARFS & HEAD WRAPS - Every outfit is better with these babies. Tie them to your braids, buns, bags…anywherea and everywehre. I’m bringing at least 5!
STATEMENT EARRINGS - I went with a wooden, white and colorfully blue pair to mix and match all week.
HIGH WAISTED SHORTS - Gotta have ‘em. These are a few years old from Zara but classic. For denim, Levi’s are the bomb! I have their 501 shorts I’m packing too.
SWIMSUITS - I have a full Swimwear Roundup here with all my favorites from the season!

BALANCING OUR MOTIVATION
Motivation is on my mind. It guides my day, plays with my priorities and is ALWAY changing…. is this just me? I’m motivated to build, create, learn, serve, and gather. They’re always rotating as bright ideas introduce themselves and the list just keeps getting longer. The ideas that fill our mind, the intentions that fill our heart and the circumstances that define our days, how do we keep them all balanced? That’s what I want to chat about, because, there’s no better feeling that a pounding heart with a big smile and a clear path. But, that’s not always how it works out. Undeniable opportunities pop up, deadlines creep in and motivations start playing tug-a-war taking me on a rollercoaster of to-dos. I am no master of motivations but I do want to start a conversation and stir up some ideas so we can really focus on what gives us the motivation to make moves!Read More
RESORT WEAR GUIDE- PLAYFUL PATTERNS
There is just something about stripes. I've always been drawn to their chic and timeless pattern but walking around Waikiki in this pink pinstripe coordinate... I tell ya, nothing could rain on my parade! Everything I did that day was on a whole new level of darling. But it doesn't have to be stripes; gingham, floral, all the resort wear patterns turn up the vacation vibes!
When vacation comes calling, every day is an excuse to slip into something a little extra. I go for the patterns, coordinating twosies, oversized tassel earrings, and big basket bags. If you think you went too far, think again! You could probably still add a neck scarf and off you go. Resort wear is my hall pass to getaway from everyday everything and embrace something new and exciting. Super chic by the poolside, playful on the streets, boho on the beach, there is a place for everything! I take you through my packing list below for our Hawaiian getaway, a full guide if you’re packing your bags this spring, and I hope that you are!
FINDING LOVE IN FEBRUARY
Oh, the fun of February, hearts are gushing and candy is flowing! I eat considerably more sweets the first half of this month. Knowing the darling heart-shaped cookies are only temporary has me reaching for them at every quaint coffee shop I walk in. They get me every time! This is such a fun time of year and next to overindulging, it always has me reflecting on the infamous four-letter word. We make life-changing decisions based on love, spend our lives looking and collecting as much as we can, and are told it is the greatest commandment… you could say it's important. Some may even say it's in short supply. But, I'm here to remind you that love is all around us, in infinite and abundant amounts just waiting to be invited in. It's one of the most precious truths I hold onto through the highs and lows of life. God sends it out unconditionally; it's always there for us so we're never in need. Love is in the air!Read More
I watch the Chicago weather every day, anxiously awaiting a consistent week in the 70's. We've been blessed with a day or two, but usually sandwiched by some rain, wind, and low 40° days haha. No complainants though, you can't put a price on even one spectacular day! Outside of a light sweater and layers, I was looking for something easy and fun to mix it up a bit. So, I wanted to share this fun transitional top I found to keep you looking cool and cozy through the whirlwind of weather we call Spring!Read More
When I was younger, I distinctly remember my favorite denim jacket; it was embroidered with the entire Winnie-the-Pooh clan on the back, who could forget that? I secretly think that may have been what caught my husband's eye all those years ago. We met back in 1st grade, though he played it cool until high school, it turns out he was a huge Pooh Bear fan... what a hunk! Well, I slowly reached for my embroidered denim less and less until the pressures of grade school ripped America's favorite honey eating bear out of my wardrobe forever. As I'm sure you have noticed, Tigger and Winnie may not be back, but embroidery and denim are!Read More
I've had a love affair with trench coats for years now. There's just something about them... their symbol of spring, the dramatic way they take on a light breeze, or their feminine chic look. Overall, they're just dreamy!
This blush trench with bell sleeves was my first spring purchase and I'm so excited to share it with you all. I love the long duster length trench coats and with the collar and sleeve detail on this little number, I just couldn't help myself. The best part is the price though! Most items that make it to my cart stay for a few days while I weigh my options, but with a price tag of $34 I knew this was the one! I also want to share these classic strappy heels. Surprisingly comfortable and the design of the heel is super flattering. One of those staple items that every closet needs.
STYLE: BLUSH JACKET (50% OFF! USE CODE: foreals| BLACK JEANS ( MINE ARE OLD SO I LINKED A SIMILAR PAIR BY THE SAME BRAND) | STRAPPY HEELS | CROSSBODY BAG ( MINE WAS FROM FOREVER 21 AND SOLD OUT, SIMILAR LINKED FOR UNDER $40!)) | OPEN BACK TANK ( MULTIPLE COLORS!)|
THANKS FOR READING AND HAVE A LOVELY WEEK!
The season of stripes is upon us! Which means... sunnies, sneakers, and sunshine on my shoulders! So far this seasons' stripe collection is off to a good start with this versatile boyfriend button up. I love the boyfriend shirts because you can wear them so many different ways. I leave it half tucked into skirts and pants for a relaxed look, tied up in a knot at waist level for a girl next door vibe (I wore it like this to brunch last weekend!), or over a bathing suit as a classic cover up. Three looks with one top, no buyer's remorse here!Read More
Mixing and matching some old and new favorites for a whole new look! One new piece is all you need to mix things up a bit…which is why I wear so many neutrals, they go with just about everything. I love the flattering look of an A-Line skirt or dress. I stumbled across this beautiful blue one at Ann Taylor for 40% off! They don’t have it listed online anymore, but if you’re out and about, they had plenty in store. I added a lovely embroidered blouse and a blush birthday scarf from last year and ta-da!Read More
The air is crisp and the sun is out! I love being outside in this fall weather, especially in beginning of the season when it is still pretty warm out. This area is just around the corner from the building I work in, in River North and I love getting outside and strolling down to the river to enjoy my lunch or grab a drink after work. There is a beautiful restaurant Bridge House that sits right on the water, so if you’re ever looking for a meal with a good view, I highly recommend it!Read More
