DARLING & DARING IN CANADA
For years I've been dreaming of the bright blue waters and dramatic mountains of Lake Louise in Banff National Park. I've scrolled through countless pictures and found myself lost in a Pinterest black hole of wanderlust, but nothing prepared me for the real thing. You can imagine my excitement the day we finally drove out to the park; watching the hazy mountains in the distance get closer and closer.... Until they became massive outlines of the mountain range and a film of white dust covered the hood of our car. Just as we were ready to take in the splendor of the majestic mountain scape... a forest fire broke out! Smoke filled the air and ash fell down on the car, I bet you didn't see that coming, well me neither. We could barely make out the shapes of the Rockies as they stared us in the face.
Disappointment and of course slight concern settled in as we kept driving. We were totally safe if you're concerned at all; it was off to the west and not spreading but also not going away any time soon. With nothing to do but continue on and pray for clear skies, we found ourselves walking up to the lake with jaws dropped! Not even a thick layer of smoke can keep this view from taking your breath away (maybe just make you cough a little) I'm pretty sure a little tear rolled down my face, it was BEAUTIFUL! The haziness almost made it more mysterious with layers of deep shadows.
To top off the experience, I was wearing what I'm pretty sure is my favorite new sun dress. It's hard not to smile and spin a little when you're strolling around in a darling blue midi dress with a front tie. I twirled myself around that lake and back! A little faith went a long way as expectations were once again exceeded by Gods miraculous creations. And this is just the beginning, the whole National Park is overflowing with bright lakes and vast mountains so I have much more to share!
