LESS HUSTLE MORE HAPPINESS THIS SEASON
‘Tis the season for joy, parties, delicious food and decorations. On the other hand... the hand no one really wants to raise is the season of over commitment, financial stress, and anxiety. Oh, how cloudy the holiday season can be! It sounds silly to overcast an exciting time of year with stress, but expectations are high and time is strained, what do we expect? Even with a list of to-do's and to-buy’s, there are a few things we can do to find joy in the hustle. Holiday happiness is just a few steps away y'all!
What's even sillier than the stress we create is how much my mood is tied to my wardrobe... just ridiculous! Outfits are my outlet and when I get it right, I feel so good! That's why I've paired this look with this post. It's my feel good get up! Silk, suede, oversized scarf and sneakers; I have cute, comfortable, and casual all wrapped up in one. Victory! I have to say, this silk blouse has quickly become my go-to this winter. The texture and quality are so flattering with denim, skirts, cardigans, and blazers. My most versatile top for sure! I've also been hunting for white sneakers for months. I'm clumsy with a 9½ shoe.... It's really hard to find a sneaker that doesn't emphasize my sturdy foundation and get ruined the first time I wear them. These white sneakers are awesome!
4 TIPS FOR LESS HOLIDAY STRESS
If you're a perfectionist you're probably thinking...yea right! I couldn't agree more, putting aside perfection is so much easier said than done. The thought of not putting the effort in to get to perfect gives me anxiety- I would rather not do it at all. The sad truth, but it doesn't have to be!
Christmas isn't about having the best, looking the best, decorating the best it's simply about celebrating. If we spend all our time worrying and working toward the perfect picture, outfit, or party we might miss the celebration altogether. This is the theme of my life, a work in progress though!
The best parties are remembered with laughter, the best Christmas cards hold the real smiles, and the best cookies are made with love. It's science!
Perfection is a distraction; it stretches our time, our resources, and our energy. So let be present instead of perfect this Christmas and soak up all the joy that comes with it!
This is my December goal! Not to run on high to a destination with no end, but to simplify and have intent. Being intentional with my time, my money, my gifting.... It's so easy to lose track when we are trying to get everything and be everywhere.
I like to start by thinking of what brings people around me the most joy, what do I truly value in this season, and what takes away from those.
An example for me is searching endlessly for the perfect gift online... if I don't know what I'm looking for how do I expect to find it? Gifting overcasts the practice of actually giving and my day is consumed with a keyboard.
Make a plan, have a purpose and be intentional!
GET THOSE GIFTS, EARLY
Pull from the practice of intention and plan out your gifts. Make a list, make a budget, and really think about what you could give that person. But remember, it doesn't have to be perfect! Hours of scrolling or pushing through crowds (actually exhausting) can take away the purpose of giving. It should be fun! My gift guides are right here to keep giving fun and easy.
Give graciously, give joyfully and wrap it up early so giving doesn't become just one more thing on your list.
FOCUS ON THE REASON FOR THE SEASON- FOR REAL!
The Grinch says it best.... "It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags." It's not about the parties, the presents, or the decoration.
It's about one perfect gift. Jesus!
I'm doing a devotional advent this year to spend some time every day counting down to Christmas in God's Word. A daily reminder of why we celebrate the grace, love, and merriment that this season holds. My heart is so joyful when it remembers the love this season represents!
