Don’t rock the boat, we’ve got a baby on board!
I’ve been boating in The Windy City twice now and they are definitely two of my favorite Chicago memories! Last summer we turned up the party vibes with a few friends on a yacht for the 4th of July. This year, it was all coziness and class on a sail boat for Labor Day! I’m hoping we keep this annual outing going too, but I cannot even begin to wonder what life will look like next summer with a 8 month old on my hip 😳.
Sailing has been a big bucket list item of mine for years now and it did not disappoint— though I do get a little sea sick with slow sailing and waves, possibly a pregnancy thing though so who knows.. Cruising by Nay Pier, lounging on the front and watching a few friends struggle to help our captain anchor, it was magical. My expectations of the wind in my hair and a cozy sweater to wrap up in with a glass of wine —I traded my wine for a baby, much dreamier if you ask me — was totally met!
I haven’t been the one to organize these outings, but I can confirm that both times we used Boat Setter and both experiences were absolutely amazing! If you’re living in Chicago or planning a visit, you’ve just got to get out on the water. With the fresh water and the city skyline, there’s nothing quite like it!
It’s a solid 90° in Nashville so the 20 degree drop on the lake had me drooling for all things fall. AKA cozy knots and layers! Gus was crazy enough to jump in while the rest of us reached for our sweaters as the sun went down. I’ve actually been avoiding cold water since childhood. If you happened to be on my swim team, let me apologize now for all the extra laps you had to swim waiting for me to get my butt in the water. Baby and I stayed on deck with the cheese and crazy classy picnic spread from The Langham Chicago. Olivia and Conner were staying with them and they offer packed picnics from their restaurant for their guest, how cute right!?

TRANSITIONING TO FALL | FASHION FINDS
Fall is like my kryptonite. As soon as Labor Day hits I’m all about the frothy cinnamon drinks and fashion finds. I took a pretty big shopping break over the summer and really cleaned out my closet. But Fall is like a little temptress with all the layers, fabrics, patterns… I stopped taking brand partnerships back in April (more on that later) and really started looking at what I have and purchase through a lens of love and practicality. Enough with the excess, just looking for a few favorites I’ll really treasure this season and hoping I can help you find some too. A few brands I’ve added to my arsenal:
NADDAM : Sustainable, ethical and affordable cashmere company. The dress I’m wearing above is probably my new favorite piece in my my closet and I just bought it on sale! They also have a cozy knit pant and sweater set I have my eye on.
LIONESS: All kinds of great blazers for under $100. Including the classing plaid one we all crave for our closet.
& Other Stories: The sweater I have on above is from here. They have a great selection and non overwhelming selection of beautiful pieces. I love when brands have a smaller selection of quality pieces. I feel like they did all the scrolling work for me.
Line& Dot: Great collection of sweater and jacket styles.
Free People: Talk about cozy layers! Each year I invest in one new sweater from Free People and it’s always my favorite.
