BALANCING OUR MOTIVATION
Motivation is on my mind. It guides my day, plays with my priorities and is ALWAY changing…. is this just me? I’m motivated to build, create, learn, serve, and gather. They’re always rotating as bright ideas introduce themselves and the list just keeps getting longer. The ideas that fill our mind, the intentions that fill our heart and the circumstances that define our days, how do we keep them all balanced? That’s what I want to chat about, because, there’s no better feeling that a pounding heart with a big smile and a clear path. But, that’s not always how it works out. Undeniable opportunities pop up, deadlines creep in and motivations start playing tug-a-war taking me on a rollercoaster of to-dos. I am no master of motivations but I do want to start a conversation and stir up some ideas so we can really focus on what gives us the motivation to make moves!
THE DREAM, THE REAL DEAL, THE BIG PICTURE
This might sound silly, but there is one thing I do when motivations are running rapid or frustratingly asleep. I picture myself, my surrounding, and my purpose 5 years down the road. What am I doing, why am I smiling and the big question – what do I need to do to get there? That’s when the wheels start turning, my heart starts pounding and I see THE DREAM. Not that you can’t have handfuls of dreams, believe me, I’ve got baskets of them… but the real deal, the big picture.
Personally, my vision is bright and neutral toned (of course) with laughter, a loving family, a home office –that isn’t my bedroom vanity– a small team of joyful souls working toward a purpose that brings people together and lifts them up. That, is the dream.
There are layers of building and I’m sure obstacles out the wazoo but I can hone in on where my priorities should lie and which motivations to focus on. Then I can crush those motives; turn them into a plan and actually – and most importantly– act on them! I can sit around and write out my dreams till my pen is empty, but I have to will them off the page and work them into reality so I can actually enjoy them.
My mission isn’t to give you answers (I’m mid-process myself) but inspiration. To spark a flame so you can create a torch and blaze a trail to your dreams. I’ve learned it’s easy to dream, hard to focus, and scary to act. Some dreams are so darn worth it though, I can’t wait to get moving. Getting a grasp on my motivations doesn’t mean I’ve got it all figured out but it does give me back control so I can choose where to focus. Steve Jobs said ” Don’t try to do everything. Do one thing well.” What’s your one thing, the dream for you? Make at least one move with those motivations each day and put it at the top of your list!
If I could raise one eyebrow, it would be up right now because I feel like that one task is a game-changer and move-maker!
Sometimes I simply have to remind myself: You are unique, you are skilled, and you are prayed for. You can make a change, be a change, and create a dream. Get out of your own way, get a cappuccino, into your girl boss get-up, focus on your motivations and make some moves!

This post was inspired by a constant shift of motivational inspiration. From bursting with motives to searching for them, I felt like I needed to focus and thrive in the clarity of having control. Thanks for letting me share and spark a conversation about what really get us moving in the right direction. You all are THE BEST!
