THANKSGIVING THIS YEAR
Tomorrow is the day! The day to gather, to feast, to bake, and to really let gratitude sink in. Gus and won’t be making it back to Kentucky for Thanksgiving, so this year will look a little different for us. One thing is for sure though; our hearts will be full to the brim! Okay, two things... I'll also be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! I've watched those floats and performers dance through New York City year after year and they never fail to flood my living room with happy memories. Tomorrow morning I'll be whipping up some homemade cinnamon rolls and roasting coffee to enjoy with Gus and Leroy as we create another morning of joyful memories to add to the vault.
Come dinnertime, we're usually surrounded by family and talking through the avenues of gratitude in our lives. Sharing what you're grateful for can get pretty personal. Some may even dread going around the table and letting people in on the ups and downs of life. Well... I'm not one of them, I LOVE to share! Since it's just the two of us, I thought I would let you all in on the journey of this year and share with you too!
WHAT I'M GRATEFUL FOR
Gus is in the Navy, so almost 2 years ago we knew we were moving and the options didn't look good. Most of them were deserts, islands, and other countries...yikes! Then to our surprise, Great Lakes Chicago requested us. I didn't even know there was a base there but had always dreamed of living in such a spectacular city.
Well, here we are two years later and living out a dream we didn't even create. This city has brought us a wonderful church, Soul City, the chance to try my hand in the corporate world, the opportunity to dive into entrepreneurship (which still doesn't feel real,) invite more friends into our lives and be only 5 hours from family. This move has gifted us with a wonderful city to call home and I'm so thankful for Chicago.
It has been an unpredictable year, to say the least... I didn't see any of it coming and honestly, none of it would have happened without the support of a community, family, and you all! I took a lot of leaps this year and if my husband, friends, and God weren't there to bridge the gap and reach for my hand, I wouldn't have leaped at all. I'm so thankful for all the unique and beautiful souls in my life and of course the one that created each of them, God.
ALL THE LITTLE THINGS
I tend to have a heart of entitlement. Thoughts that I deserve the basic necessities and all my little desires, but the truth is – I don't! So many others are living without water, food, warmth, family, and their health. Who am I to think I deserve those things? All I really deserve is Hell and Jesus even took care of that for me, promising eternal life rich beyond my wildest dreams. What more could I ever want! If I don't receive another thing the rest of my life, even if the things I have slowly start to slip away I have the greatest gift to look forward to. I'm so thankful for all the little things I take for granted on most days and most of all for Jesus and price he paid to be able to call me home.
ONE MIDI SKIRT TWO WAYS
When I can spin a piece multiple ways I get so much wear out of it! I honestly got this skirt for a tailored business look, then started wearing it with sweaters and t-shirts and fell head over heels (pun intended.)
COZY MIDI SKIRT OUTFIT
I've given you a peek inside what Thanksgiving will look like this year; this is an actual visual of what I'll be wearing! Anything high waisted is a perfect partner for Holiday feasts, we all need a little extra room for dessert right!? The color and texture of this skirt are my favorite though, so rich and great for a party. The cropped sweater shows your cozy side and doesn't hide the flattering cut of the waistline. It's also incredibly soft and truly the perfect cut for all your high waisted favorites
MIDI SKIRT WORKWEAR
Just about any A-Line midi skirt can take the professional approach. The tailored cut and appropriate length make it a shoe-in for your work wardrobe. Grab a blouse, top it with a jacket and off you go to conquer the office life. One thing I miss a lot about my corporate job is the business professional attire. I'm one woman who loved getting dressed for work every day and this skirt would have become a fast favorite!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and know how much I appreciate each of you!
In light of Cyber Week, this striped top and trench coat are both on sale and this cozy sweater is BOGO for 50% off! I’m working on a Cyber Week sale post right now to help sift through all these good sales too, stayed tuned!
