FINDING LOVE IN FEBRUARY
Oh, the fun of February, hearts are gushing and candy is flowing! I eat considerably more sweets the first half of this month. Knowing the darling heart-shaped cookies are only temporary has me reaching for them at every quaint coffee shop I walk in. They get me every time! This is such a fun time of year and next to overindulging, it always has me reflecting on the infamous four-letter word. We make life-changing decisions based on love, spend our lives looking and collecting as much as we can, and are told it is the greatest commandment… you could say it's important. Some may even say it's in short supply. But, I'm here to remind you that love is all around us, in infinite and abundant amounts just waiting to be invited in. It's one of the most precious truths I hold onto through the highs and lows of life. God sends it out unconditionally; it's always there for us so we're never in need. Love is in the air!

THREE WAYS TO FILL YOUR LIFE WITH LOVE
I've noticed the more I feel loved the more love I have to give. It's a risky way to live because someone has to start the chain reaction, right? I can't just wait (not so patiently) for someone to go out of their way and make me feel appreciated and worthy. I know I’m not always loving so I can’t simply expect everyone else to be either.
God allows us to feel the frailty of human love so we'll appreciate the strength of His.~ C.S. Lewis
Instead, I rely on God and the rest is bonus! Bonus love feels pretty fabulous and takes the pressure off the people in my life to love me perfectly when they can’t. Then, to get my heart jumping and love flowing every day there are a few things I like to do!
LOVELY LITTLE REMINDERS
I have this dainty gold bracelet with my baptism date stamped in it. I wear it as a reminder of all the love and forgiveness I’m given every day, so I’m never in short supply to spread it like crazy!
BE THE LEADER
If love is a chain reaction and someone needs to be first, why not me? I've been reading some C.S Lewis lately who so wisely said, "The rule for all of us is perfectly simple. Do not waste time bothering whether you love your neighbor; act as if you did." Love's not a thought but an action! The choice isn't whether I think they deserve it but if I'm willing to give it. Turns out, it's a pretty satisfying circle of gaining love from giving love. Leading with little actions of love actually fills me up too!
APPRECIATE THE LITTLE THINGS
Slow down and soak up the best parts of your day. Like a fresh cup of coffee, spring flowers, the fluffy blankets on my bed (dreamy) and a perfectly flaky chocolate croissant. Apparently, I would really love to have breakfast in bed... Oh, and I LOVE that Gus walks Leroy when he wakes up so I can have a better morning! I try not to let routine rob me of the joy I find in the simple signs of love God gives throughout the day. He knows the beats our hearts dance to and if we listen we might get a whole concert!
MY VALENTINES DAY
Each year is a little different, there's almost always wine involved and preferably chocolate... but the demand is high for flowers and dinner dates so prices are just silly sometimes. Gus and I just planned our little celebration of love this year with homemade pizza and chocolate fondue (the sketchy stove top version.) YUM! We'll have our romantic dinner in the city on the 15th 😉 I see sweatshirts and cozy socks for Valentines Day this year (partially because our apartment is always freezing.)
I have a reading list I’m working through this year to inspire a joyful life (of course C.S. Lewis is on there) you can find a few good reads here!
Have a wonder Valentines Day, Galantines Day, or self-love day guys. I'll be thinking of you and sending love your way from Chicago!
