CHICAGO TRAVEL GUIDE
How to sum this city up into one post? I honestly don’t know…BUT, I’ll try!
After 3 years of calling Chicago home, my clothes are a little tighter and my wallet's a bit lighter, but I'm rich in amazing experiences! And I can't wait to share them with you. I’ve made and checked off list after list exploring The Windy City and there seems to be a hidden gem and sparkling new view around every corner. The city actually sparkles with all the glass architecture! In my personal, unbiased opinion… Chicago simply has it all, just waiting for you to enjoy it. You’ll get your fill of parks, rooftops, restaurants, a stunning skyline, river walk, and a lake —that feels like an ocean— all within a few miles. So get ready, because, with this travel guide... The Windy City is going to blow you away!
Here’s what we’ll do… I’m going to give you EVERYTHING I’ve got! These are my go-to spots, one-stop wonders, unique finds, hidden gems and basically, the best of the best. I’ve been known to set annoyingly high expectations for experiences, some would say it’s a flaw of mine, but in this scenario… it;’s a gift! This is a list of everything that I was impressed by and fell in love with, so I can tell you, these recommendations will meet your expectations!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKING RESERVATIONS WHENEVER POSSIBLE.!
PARTICULARLY BRUNCH AND DINNER FILL UP FAST!
This is a one of a kind view and let’s be honest… picture! This is The Ledge at the Chicago Skydeck where you stand in a glass box 1,353 feet above the city. I’ve been twice, so far! If you decide to head up to the 103rd floor of the famous Willis Tower, I highly recommend getting there EARLY! You can get tickets in advance here and I’ll leave the hours below!
October-February 10 AM- 8 PM ( On November 4th opening is at 1:00 PM )
March - September 9:00 AM - 10 PM
Yes, it’s a big bean in the middle of a park BUT it reflects the city beautifully! Seeing it at dawn before the crowds start swarming is magical. If you’re not a morning or crowd person—can’t blame ya— head up to Cindy’s Rooftop (right across the street) for a perfect view and a crafty cocktail.
Probably my favorite way to spend a nice day in Chicago! Over the years I’ve taken the Shoreline Architecture tour 4 times and each and every-time absolutely loved it! There is a bar aboard to grab a coffee or glass of wine while you simply float right through the city’s skyscrapers. We always board at the Navy Pier, can’t go wrong guys!
Wacker Drive runs with the river and divides Chicago into a few of it’s most famous neighborhoods. Grab a coffee or lunch from The Goddess & The Baker on La Salle street and picnic on the steps or sip on a glass of wine at City Winery right on the water. Most of my pictures are along the River Walk, it’s my favorite part of the city and leads right to Michigan Ave, and Millennium Park.
I’ve honestly never been big on museums, but The Art Institute of Chicago is really quite lovely! The art, the architecture, and right by Millennium Park…it’s worth a stop if you have time. There is almost always a line for tickets though, so maybe go early or put them at will call if you’re able.
GREEN MILL JAZZ BAR
Not necessarily a tourist attraction, but definitely a local favorite. If you’re a jazz fan, you’ve got to go! The drinks aren’t great but the music is unbelievable. Check out their schedule to see who’s playing, the cover at the door is usually around $10 and seats fill up fast!
JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING…BUT BOUTIQUES
