WHAT MAKES A GIFT GREAT?
I get so excited about gift giving, I could probably give you a laundry list of ways to wrap up the perfect present. But, it’s not necessarily what you give, but why you’re giving. Think outside the box you have to check off. How can you shine a little light into their life? It could be an experience, a break, a treat, or something to wear.
I think we can all share the frustration of wasted money and materials that get wrapped up to fill a space under the tree. We have an opportunity to give a GIFT. A word that has lost it’s shine in the mix of sales, guides, and things the season seems to revolve around. With a little intention and inspiration, I think we can pack our presents with a bit more purpose! I hope we can enjoy a season of less junk and more joy and hope I can help to sift through the distractions as best I can!
GIFT GIVING TIPS
PRESENTS X PERSONALITIES
This may seem obvious, but who are you getting a gift for? Are they practical and organized or adventurous dreamers? I’ve noticed with my husband and I— who are opposite type A and B personalities— he prefers practical gifts. He lights up when he doesn’t have to spend money or time on what he needs and can treat himself to what he wants. Where I… have no problem buying what I need and would prefer to be giving the things I want. (Probably because I feel guilty buying them for myself) So the nice boots, new coat, and show tickets are at the top of my list. While Gus would prefer a course credit, audible membership, and new t-shirts. Something to think about!
THINK IN THEMES
My favorite and BEST tip! I think themed gifts are two in one. You get to open the Pj's slippers, and sleep mask AND imagine the experience your thoughtful gift giver has dreamed up for you. in a peaceful nights sleep. One way to make your gift more memorable!
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
How many sweaters and scarfs can we really store and wear? And let’s be honest, even if I have a closet full, I'm still going to reach for my favorite cozy cable knit every time! Instead of adding 5 sweaters to the collection that gets cleaned out in the spring, get the one the one that will be in their closet for years to come. because it’s treasured and made to last. A great tip for the “person who has everything” they surely have plenty of scarfs but you can give the scarf.
In light of quality, I thought this would be the perfect post to share my favorites from the Shopbop Sale! This is where I shop for my treasured items and just started filling my cart with the pieces I’ve been drooling over all season.
I wish you all a joyful holiday season and Happy Thanksgiving! I’ll be back later this week with more gifts guides and Black Friday deals. Leave the hunting to me!
