FINDING FAVORITES IN CALGARY
Living out of a suitcase once again and with a heart set for wonder! We’re on an adventure north and Calgary, Canada is our first stop. I’ve been dreaming of setting my sights on the glory of the Rockies, but before we dive right into nature, I thought we’d do a little city living and show off a few dramatic details with my silk and sweater combo. A fulfilling brunch, tasty cocktails and a beautiful cappuccino later, I’ve enjoyed a few “new favorites” and I wasn’t even looking!
NEW FOODIE FAVORITES
The one thing each of these new faves has in common is great company; we’re traveling with my brother and sister-in-law and they make everything a little more joyful!
- Our first stop in Calgary was brunch at Alforno Bakery and Café (keep in mind, I’ve been to my fair share of brunches). A variety of pastries, benedict with squash and garden veggies, and kombucha, all in a bright cozy setup… we were in for a treat!
- Sunday evening called for a few drinks, so we found ourselves at a restaurant called Cleaver. Some bourbon, chili peppers, and a few martinis later we were on their patio with blankets and candles having a lovely evening. Their drinks were so unique, and only $5 on Sunday night, hurray for Sunday Funday!
- Then, who can start their day without stopping for a good cup of coffee? Not me! We were told that Analog was one of the most famous coffee shops in the country…say no more and sign me up! I ordered my classic dry cappuccino and it came dressed with the prettiest swan décor. Not to mention, it tasted phenomenal and the French style of the café was very charming.
- Last but not least, popcorn and brussels! I have both of these a few times a week at home (slight obsession!) Market, treated us to bacon and truffle popcorn and a magical brussels concoction with feta and aioli… oh my goodness, so delicious!
I’m telling you, each experience was exceptional and I left wishing I could be a local with the luxury of stopping by at my leisure. Thank you Jay Mathews for the recommendations!
The Rocky Mountains get a head start on sweater weather, and that’s fine by me! Crisp air, warm sunshine, and cozy sweaters… a dreamy combination! Adding some dramatic splits to my basic cropped pullover and high-waisted pants turn them casual to chic! This outfit was perfect for dressing up some of my new light, and of course neutral, transitional pieces I was waiting to slip into. I’ll continue to pull them out of my closet through summer and fall too! Open back sweaters are also a great way to add a sexy touch to a cool summer night 😉
