TRAVEL TO CHARMING
After a summer of spontaneous jet setting I’ve seen some enticing new places, and it got me thinking… of everywhere I’ve been where would I return? Memories came rushing back and each of them from a charming town, just off the tourist beaten path. A subtle mixture of delicious authentic food, outdoor fun, peaceful lounging, and an overwhelming amount of charm are on my “return” checklist. These are the 4 towns that have IT ALL, and I’m dreaming up the day I make my way back.
ZUG | PORTOFINO | LAKE COMO | CAPRI
Zug is one of the many small towns that wrap around Lake Zug in Switzerland. We stayed in this little dreamland during our recent trip and I never wanted to leave. I actually contemplated the possibilities of moving here (the only other place I’ve done that is Bali!) Zug is painted with the picturesque buildings and landscapes you’d see in a storybook; filled with chocolate, wine, cheese, cowbells and flower fields. Life here is slower, more peaceful, with beauty around every corner. Cafés and flower shops line the streets, locals walk down to the lake for an evening swim, and life just seems a little more joyful. It also packs a convenience punch… there is a grocery store, shopping, businesses and a train to major cities all at walking distance. It has everything and still manages to be so darn charming!

The next three towns I visited before my blogging days with a good camera, BUT here is my favorite shot from each place.
The picture below, the one all over Pinterest isn’t that hard to get… we found it by accident and had it all to ourselves! I have a blog post on it here! It’s an old post… you’ve been warned!
LAKE COMO ITALY
Just north of Milan, this lake will make you feel like your sitting in the midst of Switzerland and New Zealand, boarded by Italian villas. I hope that paints the picture I was hoping! It’s spectacular, driving is terrifying…I’ve never been so confident we would crash so many times. The roads are tiny! I vote you travel by water. We rented a boat just outside of our villa and cruised around all day. If I could have dreamed up an Italian adventure, this is what it would look like!
This is where epic memories are made. If you venture out to this little island off the Italian coast there is one thing you have to do; Hire a boat to sail you around the island and visit all the grottos! If Palo is your driver, you’re in great hands and he probably brought some homemade limoncello along! A cozy little sailboat, bottle of champagne, and light breeze charter you around as you jump off, swim, and explore all day long.
I’m so sorry, I don’t have a picture or post for this one! Here is another bloggers post for a guide to Capri that you will hopefully enjoy!
